Nin was under Venetian domination from 1409. till 1537. when Turks occupied Nin, but they didn`t keep it. Inhabitants built walls. After Venetians occupied Nin again, they burnt it and Nin was never so significant after that. After World War II Nin was developing again and in 1997., after Croatia got its independence, it got town status again.
